LiveDiverse Case Study Area Interactive Map: Click here

The LiveDiverse project is now in its second year, and moving into an intensive period of field work in South Africa, Vietnam, Costa Rica and India.

The livelihoods of rural people in and around protected areas is at the heart of the project. At the same time, improvement of living conditions for the rural poor must not be at the expense of the rich biodiversity of the areas in which they live. Our task is to find ways to improve livelihoods while at the same time protecting biodiversity.

LiveDiverse will develop new knowledge on the interaction between livelihoods and biodiversity within the riparian and aquatic contexts. The project involves four case study areas in Costa Rica, India, South Africa and Vietnam, and emphasis is placed on engaging a range of groups and their representatives, governmental and non-governmental, throughout the whole period of research activities. We base our work on communication with these groups, and will together with them formulate future scenarios which will then be used for policy recommendations and future project proposals.
